Frequently asked questions
How Surf Seeker works, for surfers and for surf businesses.
For surfers and travellers
What is Surf Seeker?
Surf Seeker is a worldwide surf directory. Every surf spot has its own page with the wave details, a map, a live surf forecast and the surf schools, shops, rentals, places to stay, restaurants and jobs within 25 km.
Browse the surf spots →How many surf spots are listed?
6,117 surf spots in 123 countries, each with its own page.
Is Surf Seeker free to use?
Yes. Browsing spots, forecasts and businesses is free and needs no account. An account is only needed to leave a review.
Who chooses the surf spots?
Our team curates every surf spot. Businesses cannot add or edit spots: they only appear next to the spots near them.
Where does the surf forecast come from?
Forecasts come from Open-Meteo marine and weather models and are updated every hour: wave height, swell period and direction, wind speed and gusts, water and air temperature and UV index, hour by hour for 24 hours and day by day for 7 days.
How are businesses near a spot chosen?
Automatically, by distance: a spot page lists the schools, shops, rentals, places to stay, restaurants and jobs within 25 km of the break, nearest first.
How do reviews work?
Sign in, open a listing and write a review between 20 and 1000 characters, without links or contact details. You can leave one review per listing. Reviews are checked before or after publication, and are only open on listings managed by their owner.
Can I share my surf photos?
Yes. On any spot page, use "Submit a photo of this spot" to send up to 10 photos (JPG, PNG or WebP, 15 MB each). They are reviewed before publication and you are credited by name.
See the photographers →Which languages is Surf Seeker available in?
English and French. Use the EN / FR switch at the top or bottom of any page. Spot descriptions are mostly written in French.
How do you use cookies?
Only the cookies needed to run the site are set by default. Analytics and advertising cookies are used only if you accept them, and you can change your choice at any time.

How do I list my business?
Create an account, choose a plan and publish your surf school, shop, rental, accommodation or restaurant. It then appears on the page of every surf spot within 25 km, and on the country and city pages.
List your business →How much does a listing cost?
Basic Plan: €9.00 per month, 1 published listing. Advance Plan: €15.00 per month, 2 published listings. Premium Plan: €25.00 per month, 5 published listings. Plans are monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
My business is already listed. How do I claim it?
Open its page and use "Claim this listing". Tell us how we can confirm the business is yours (an email address at its domain, its phone number, a page that names you). We check every request by hand; once approved, the listing moves to your account and uses one of your plan's listings.
What can I show on my listing?
Your description, logo, main photo and gallery, phone number, website, address and social profiles. Visitors can leave reviews, and your listing shows on nearby spot pages.
What happens if my subscription ends?
Your listings are unpublished automatically, and job posts stop being available. Nothing is deleted: subscribe again and they are published again, up to your plan's limit.
Can I post job offers?
Yes, for free, as long as you have at least one published listing.
How can I advertise on Surf Seeker?
Create your ad from your dashboard: upload an image or HTML creative, choose where it appears and for how long. Our team reviews it within 24 hours, then you can follow its views and clicks.
Advertise →Can I show Surf Seeker data on my own website?
Yes. Subscribers can create an API key in their dashboard and embed spots and listings, for example filtered by country or city, on their own site.
